WABA Youth Initiative is delighted to welcome Tina Lutzen our Youth Intern for 2012 from Aarhus, Denmark. She will be with us from May 22 till July 13, 2012. She is doing her Bachelor in "Global Nutrition in Health" with specialization in Public Health Nutrition and Food Policy, VIA University College, Aarhus in Denmark.
In Penang, Tina will be researching on the implementation of the BFHI focusing on the 10th step of the Mother Support. She will be documenting community and mother support groups and initiatives in Penang and Kuala Lumpur to see if they follow the WHO guidelines for successful breastfeeding, and to see which steps are more difficult and challenging to implement and how they solve this. She will also document the work and the process of mother support groups and their efforts to make the state of Penang mother/baby friendly. With this study as a platform, she will return to prepare her thesis on the status of BFHI in Denmark - and how her research could trigger the establishment of a Danish network intended to update on the field of breastfeeding and to advocate for change especially in the Danish implementation of the BFHI.
We hope that she finds her experience with us interesting and worthwhile. WELCOME TO THE WABA NETWORK TINA!!
